Water Damage Restoration planning in Eastover

Lower-density lots and established homes benefit from a full view of grading, roof runoff, and exterior exposure.

A town too new to have flooded in living memory — almost

Eastover's own municipal history is short: Scots-Irish settlers once called the area Mary's Garden, an oral-history nickname for its poor soil, and Eastover Township was organized in 1869, but the town itself wasn't incorporated until July 26, 2007, making it Cumberland County's newest municipality with 3,656 residents at the 2020 census. Because most of its housing dates from around that 2007 incorporation, the majority of Eastover homes standing today have already weathered at least one of the county's two worst modern storms — Hurricane Matthew in 2016 or Hurricane Florence in 2018.

Low-density lots still need grading and runoff answers

Newer construction on larger, lower-density lots avoids some of the legacy pipe problems older neighborhoods carry, but it doesn't remove the need to check grading and roof runoff — especially on the fast-draining Sandhills sand under much of Eastover, which sheds water quickly but can also redirect it unpredictably around a foundation during a heavy storm. A water damage response here should look at site grading as closely as it looks at what's happening inside the house.

Ways to start a water damage conversation in Eastover

What to share for an Eastover response

Let us know when the water intrusion started, its likely source, how much of the home is affected, and whether the property dates to the post-2007 growth or an older township parcel — that build-era detail helps set expectations for drainage and materials.

The same stormwater program that governs new-lot grading

Fayetteville's Development Services department runs the municipal stormwater program that governs grading and drainage standards, and also tracks historic-property designations across the metro. Confirm current requirements for a specific Eastover address before finalizing any drainage-related repair.
